Hey, whaddaya know, today is the first day of 2012 so, "Happy new year, humans!" Smile all the way and say Alhamdulillah.
I do seriously believe, some of us, the humans, are seeking for a specific time or date to make a turning point in their life. A turning point to be a better person, a better muslim. And I also believe, now (Yes, right now!) is the perfect time for us to make some changes in our daily life on this blue planet Earth. Grab this chance, my fellow brothers. Remember, opportunity knocks our door only once.
"Why now?" you may ask with a little bit of confusion. You know, to make it more memorable and as the beginning point of the new version of ourselves. The new person who do more good deeds and ibada sincerely for Allah Almighty. A person who loves to greet other humans with "Assalamualaikum" and shake hands with a warm smile. A person who always practices positive thinking all the way through the year and the year onwards.
I bet some of us are desperately wanna change themselves to be a good human being. Well, that is a good thing to be done my man. Well done for having such intention. But to what extent do we have to change? Do we need to change ourselves as a whole? Or just make some small little adjustment? Is it enough? These questions suppose to be honoured with a number of huge question marks. Yes, they deserve it very much.
To be precise, the question is to what extent do we need to change? To change is a very difficult task to handle with. Believe me. But on the other hand, it is not impossible if we know how to do it properly. As an analogy, have you ever play Pokemon or any other RPG kind of games before? What about Dragon Ball, have you watch it? Yes? No? The answer is yours to choose. Pick it yourself whether its a 'No' or a 'Yes'.
From my childhood memories, when the character in the game gain enough experience point, he will go level up, right? From level 1 to level 2 or from level 2 to level 3. And it is an unusual things to happen if your character level up from level 1 straight to level 50 in a single fight. It is ridiculous. Yes, you bet it is. My point here is, as a starting point of a whole brand new beginning, try to do something in a smaller scale. Do it step by step.
As an example, if before this you woke up late somewhere at 8 o'clock, for a change try to get awake at least at 7.59 in the morning. A minute earlier than before. That's enough already. Then, try to practice it everyday and soon enough, insyaAllah it will become a habit. But if you can do better than that like waking up at 5.00 a.m., be my guess. Just go for it!
To think about it, there are several key elements needed to be obtain in order to achieve our aim; to be a better human.
1st Element: Yourself.
To change ourselves, we need ourselves. "Okay, doc, what is that suppose to mean?" To have ourselves by our side is the main key point to achieve anything in our life. Most of the human nowadays doesn't have this. They usually doing something for a return, which means they are not being sincere with themselves. C'mon, Ask yourself, "What do you want in your entire life?" Lead your intention on the right track. Do it for Allah, my brothers.

2nd Element: The Environment.
Not all of us were born with such a strength to endure the pressure from the humans around us. Ironically, some of us already giving up after being mocked by others (mostly by their peers). Well, you can't change how they will react with your new self and you can never control it to work how you want it to. But you can change your environment. Try to befriend and get closer to someone who can guide you to be a better person, someone who accept you just the way you are.
3rd Element: Believe in Allah.
As He is the Almighty God that rule the entire universe, try to put a very strong believe in Him. Never lose your faith and never lose hope because Allah is always by our side. Frequently ask for His forgiveness and guidance so, your journey will become a complete success. When you are facing an obstacle, overcome it with the name of Allah and believe there are hikmah in every single things that happened around us.
InsyaAllah if we practices these three things in our life, changes will be ours in no time. Be on the right track and never feel ashamed to be a good human. Let all of us change to be a better muslim. O' Allah the Almighty, please grant us the determination to change ourselves from bad to good and grant us the strength to pull ourselves through the obstacles within the mysterious tomorrow. Ameen.
